It's Date Season
The dates are finally getting ripe. After weeks of blistering heat they are starting to turn brown. While still not completely ripe, they are quite good even now... those pictured above are current.

my dh likes those yellow! he freezes them in the freezer, then chows down. may be a Basra thing...
Yeah we eat them yellow here too, but I have never heard of freezing them first. I will have to try that, inshAllah.
My mother in law, Saudi, likes the yellow ones as well. They are pretty expensive to get here in the Metro DC area.
My wife loves dates. I think they are okay, but I like the mamoul with dates.
I have absolutely enjoyed your blog. Infact my family and I are planning to move to the ME in January but still uncertain where.
It has been very informative, I hope to read more. By the way do you know of any blogs similar to yours about life in Oman or KSA
