It's interesting that dates are so important that they don't use any one word to mean "date"; instead, there are words for every different kind: yellow, half-yellow and half-ripe, ripe, etc. (Reminds me of the Eskimos with snow.)

WOW, I am so happy to find your Blog! I myself am an American and once resided with my family in Qatar for nearly 3 years. We have returned to the States only to realize, life was so much better in the Gulf, we are trying to get back over there ASAP! I love your views on Qatar and have expressed MANY of the same arguments and facts with friends and relatives here in hopes of them understanding why we loved being in Qatar.
