Assalaamu alaikum,

It's interesting that dates are so important that they don't use any one word to mean "date"; instead, there are words for every different kind: yellow, half-yellow and half-ripe, ripe, etc. (Reminds me of the Eskimos with snow.)

WOW, I am so happy to find your Blog! I myself am an American and once resided with my family in Qatar for nearly 3 years. We have returned to the States only to realize, life was so much better in the Gulf, we are trying to get back over there ASAP!
