Actually, farms usually have dogs. Muslims don't keep dogs as pets, but they do keep them for guard dogs, hunting, shepherding animals, etc.
By the way, Sylwia, I saw your blog and posted a comment explaining why many women go to their mothers' houses to spend the 40 days after childbrth. You seem to have the wrong idea about that.
Ann, thanks for your comment. I had the idea from our Muslim teacher, that's what she said, and maybe there was a misunderstanding? But I see this topic created a lot of confusion and stirred things a lot :)
