Just wanted to say how much I have been enjoying your blog - I went to Doha for a holiday in 2003 and really enjoyed it, my boyfriend who is Lebanese has family over there and has been several times now. As you say, its a very peaceful place, although some of the things he hears means that people make sure they keep to the straight and narrow - any trouble with a guest worker and they are put on the next plane home, for instance. And you might mention the toilets ... there were some truly awful ones on the corniche, I waited till we got back to the hotel ...
